Here are the countries that have bans on TikTok

U.S. and Canada Ban TikTok on Government-Issued Mobile Devices

The U.S. and Canada have issued orders this week banning the use of the popular video-sharing app, TikTok, on government-issued mobile devices. This comes as a response to the growing worries about privacy and cybersecurity concerns related to the app.

TikTok has grown quickly in popularity in recent years, and has been downloaded onto over one billion devices worldwide. However, privacy concerns have been raised about the app as it is owned by Chinese tech giant ByteDance, and the fact it collects huge amounts of user data for advertising purposes.

The ban is an attempt to protect government data from potential vulnerabilities. As TikTok is seen to be more vulnerable to hacking due to its connections with China, the ban is meant to prevent any governmental information from becoming compromised.

The order comes as the U.S. and Canada are becoming increasingly worried about the potential misuse of data from Chinese-owned apps. This is just the latest in a string of bans of Chinese-owned apps and products issued by the two countries.

TikTok has since responded to the ban, stating that they take security and privacy very seriously and are constantly improving their measures to ensure user safety.
